Re-imagine what you wear workshop

Gigi & Lynn design new creations from existing garments and jewellery, turning forgotten treasures into contemporary pieces.

During the E17 Art Trail, we’re excited to invite you to do the same.

The art of re-imagining trains the mind on what we really value by bringing into focus what we cherish, how we want to live and the importance of the objects we collect.

Our world is overpopulated with stuff. Great stuff, cheap stuff, other people’s stuff, our own stuff. We all know this is causing issues with our planet, but it can also cause issues with our psychological inner worlds.

We have so many things we collect as markers of life events, in order to remember someone special, because of aesthetic taste. Things also manage to collect in our spaces because we’ve made bad purchases, gotten comfortable, out of a resistance to accept that something no longer works for us when our lives have changed or because we’re overwhelmed with life events.

We suggest a transformation.

We invite you to bring your own kept but forgotten piece of jewellery or garment to Gigi’s Dressing Room for a workshop session where we’ll help you turn your treasure into something personal, tailored and beautiful once again so that your object has more relevance and brings joy in your everyday life.

You could turn your grandma’s precious necklace into a piece that you can wear everyday. Or remake a piece of pre-baby clothing that doesn’t quite fit anymore into something flattering again. An upgrade to something you just can’t live without, but haven’t actually been wearing. Or maybe you’d like to pass something to someone else, but it needs a little work. This could be the perfect opportunity to customize with purpose.
